Yellow Submarine

For my headpiece I have decided to continue with the underwater theme that I have been developing in both 3d spatial (Stacy) and Invite and Gift (Clea).
At first I thought that I would try something rather ornate with a plaster  of paris and chicken wire base and extruded latex inserts to indicate coral etc. but fearing that the weight of the thing would become cumbersome at best have decided to go with a simpler turban like affair with an eel like demon peeping from it's apex. The surreal underwater theme is to be developed by the application of coral like growths around the eyes and glass "air bubbles" rising from the mouth.
Make up will be of gold and bronze and the whole thing liberally dusted with glitter to indicate phosphorescence.

SURREAL HEAD PIECE

I am trying to do a head piece that doesn't have to many small bits hanging off, or anything to confuse u.. but rather is simple and
makes it self easy to see how surreal it is..i want it to stand out but still fit in with a bunch of surreal head pieces.. Im thinking of a brain on a chair that sits on the head.. and is relaxed and resting on the chair, with some sort of blood dripping out..i could try with glue, or go with a mechanical idea and make the blood more rectangle and even.. by using sorts of material and cutting in to strips.. hopefully i want there to be a bit of humor or riddle about it. to have a quirky slogan or saying on it.. im also thinking to try and either put the chair standing on a sandwich or to have the sandwich some how painted on the face.. or another concept would be to join the brain idea with the face and paint a light bulb on the face.... i want it to be as surreal as i can.. changing the size of things comparison to their normal sizes, also changing the colours and the textures.. so having things in my own way of surrealism....

Marnie headpiece

I really want to use all the symbolic things of surrealism to make the headpiece, with a little bit of a pop art look. Mainly using scale to achieve a more surreal look. Objects will include lobster, clouds, lips, apples, combs and watches. I'd like to arrange them onto a head band somehow.

Revolution by Night headress

I propose to design and make a headdress and body painting, influenced by surrealism. It should be suitable for a great Surrealist Ball event to be held in conjunction with a traveling surrealist exhibition ‘Revolution by Night’.

After looking at a range or surrealist images, I was able to select a few things that were re-occurring throughout the movement. From this, I have developed a design for a headpiece that disregards scale. My design is for an oversized ape's head, wearing women's makeup. It shall be made out of paper Mache with details built up to create the face and pointed head shape.

To go with the headpiece design I’ve developed a few ideas for body painting. One of those includes painting the arms with a repeating banana pattern.

Brianna

Wearable

Dressing Surreal

Cyber, Alien, War, Weapons

My headdress is within the theme of cyber, alien, predator, war, weapons, devil, and horns etc.

My subject will be Russell and trying to create a headdress for a male.

This headdress with consist of things like tubes, gas mask, guns, hand grenades, Knifes, nuclear weapons, Alien looks, predator type creature, devils and horns.

Coming out of the head I would like to use tubes, rippled tube and pipping. Maybe make him look bald with a tuff of tube or dreadlock looking hair coming from the centre of the head.

The make-up I am thinking about white greenish skin for face and arm. Around the eye black jagged tattoo like make-up and maybe purple or red lips.

The colours I will use are black, grey, white, red, green and purples to represent dark and moody feeling.

Bek's Surrealist Headdress

Surrealist Headdress
The main theme for my headdress
will be music, music entwined and entangled with the essence of life and soul. Distorting and changing the shapes of the notes into other objects
or creatures ( like spiders) creating a totally surreal effect. There would be a treble clef or
a base clef suspended and slightly tilted on the head. Coming out of this would be an intricate display of scrolling musical bars suspended in mid air as if floating on a zephyr, entangling the model
( person) wearing it. Throughout the musical bars will be a written Beck
original composition.
Some other idea's are to have the treble clef ( bass clef) at the top of the head rotating slowly, powered by a small transformer that would be cleverly disguised within the headdress. Also a range of l.e.d's flowing throughout the entire headdress.

fiona: SURREALIST HEAD WEAR

                       Entwined with nature

Nature is the inspiration for my surrealist head wear with an organic element that suggests we are one with the earth...I propose to use vines either as the tree on top of the head then have the roots cascading down the nap of the neck or......have the vines starting at the nap of the neck and fanning outwards then mushrooms and moss on top....I will be using the eyes as my part of the body that i will be painting and these will be in the form of two butterflies......
